Fearne Cotton loves Olivia Rubin

Every time I switch on the TV or read weekly magazines, I always notice Fearne Cotton loves wearing Olivia Rubin's dresses!
She's like a walking mannequin for Olivia Rubin's numbers.
Fearne
's girlie rock-chic charm is nicely contrasted by Olivia's pretty printed dresses.
The London Fashion Week catwalk designer Olivia is also loved by fashion conscious celebs such as the nation's favourite fashion idol Cheryl Cole.

COS I can't get enough of you...

COS which is the part of international H&M group, is now also available at the department store Selfridges on London’s Oxford Street. Their concession is situated on the second floor and features a selected capsule collection of key ladies wear pieces.
"For Autumn/Winter 2009 COS has been inspired by Hammershoi's paintings, Yves Saint Laurent's early work and Andy Warhol. This collection is about sharp shoulders, asymmetric hems, stretch silks and compact wools."

COS is one of my favourite high street destinations because of their high fashion style, edgy designs, sleekness, cut and good quality fabric. I've been asked what I was wearing by many people when I'm in a COS outfit and I'm proud of it!

London Screen Studio

The London Screen studio is a great place for printers of all skills and abilities. This a fantastic address to keep in your diary. It allows it's members to use the space to screen print fabrics and other materials. This can be from projects you are working on to simply the enjoyment of screen printing and it's techniques.

There are three different types of memberships to suit one and all. By the day, month or 24 hour access. It is a fantastic opportunity for students who need extra time to print their fabrics, to designers working towards their collections.

On top of this the London Screen Studio offer beginners Courses giving the student all the skills one needs to print independently. There is also an induction for everyone and this is very useful if your skills are a bit rusty or to understand all the studio equipment to use the studio to your advantage.

Your Zandra

Zandra Rhodes and Marks & Spencer have teamed up for the latest high-street meets high-end design collaboration. The collection currently in stores includes china and bedlinen for the M&S Home range. All collections are reasonably priced and are available in selected stores and online.

The prints are very much in keeping with Rhodes style but also include a 1970's design element to the collection. The black and white china has a busy print yet the monochrome gives a minimal appearance to the range.

Textile Forum Hits New Heights

This October’s Textile Forum had record attendance – up by more than 50% on March 2009 and the most visitors to the fashion fabric event since the show started in 2002– and there was also the largest number of collections on show.

According to Mario Omar, design manager at Alexon Brands, what’s on offer at Textile Forum is “much more specific than the European shows I’ve been to. It’s a real opportunity to find some luxurious, exhilarating fabrics and the large offer of beading and sequined textiles meant I could place orders there and then.”

Dedicated to providing high quality fabrics in small minimums and often from stock, this latest Textile Forum offered a treasure chest of fabrics – from wools and leathers to finest silks and shirtings.

“The new exhibitors brought us into contact with a different type of end user and the intimate, yet professional, design of the show meant it really allowed for relationships to be forged and cemented. It was definitely a busier show than ever before and buyers were willing to stay longer as there was so much variety on offer.” - Chris Chatburn, general manager of Acorn Fabrics

According to Linda Laderman, organizer, Textile Forum,
“We need to build on the success of this event and continue to grow organically, remaining true to our mission statement of providing hiqh quality fabrics for the designer market.
For March, we hope to have a couple more new exhibitors who will further broaden the range of fabrics on offer.
In addition, our new website will be further developed to include a product finder section so that Textile Forum is a fabric resource 365 days a year.”

The next Textile Forum will be staged
from 10-11 March 2010 at The Music Room London.

Buyers can register now at www.textileforum.co.uk .

Pringle of Scotland Knitwear for Spring 2010

Pringle never cease to amaze when it comes to knitwear. Their use of knit techniques and combinations of stylish and luxurious yarns is always masterfully precise and perfect. Recent seasons have been jaw-dropping, the knitwear pieces are always key pieces to have in your wardrobe and once again, for Spring Summer 2010, Pringle knitwear is a must-have. The knitted pieces dominate the collection and all other pieces blend in beautifully, yet seem just an accessory to the knitwear.

The chunky knit cardigan's are light and combine the right amount of chunky knit areas with finer knit areas. There are fantastic trims including chunky plaited knitted strips and cable stitches. Finer knits include delicate knitted lace cropped camisoles in nude with black lightweight knitted lace wrap cardigans. Layered skirts of various knitted fabrics including beautiful laddering in one layer.

There are several dresses in the collection that resemble Missoni Knitwear and unfortunately the cut-and-sew technique brings the expertise down however, the fine knit dresses include a pick-up technique that adds movement and depth to the design. The pieces are beautifully crafted. The collection also includes signature silk jersey tops with simple details that will go with anything.

Pringle also included a pair of stunning shorts in the collection made from strips of snake skin. The piece was delicate and light with sublime snake scales creating the texture. The cream shorts would be a great item to mix with the knitwear.
